Thursday and Weekend Adult gate training
In addition to Mighty Mite and Juniors racing programs, SPAC offers parents and other adults the opportunity to try running gates themselves through our Masters training program. The program features coaching by our SPAC coaching staff and teaches older athletes of all skill levels and ages techniques used in Slalom (SL), Giant Slalom (GS), and Super G (SG). Training sessions are generally on Thursday nights, December 29th through February 23rd from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at a cost of $35 per session, usually featuring Slalom and Giant Slalom training. Additional weekend training dates are available, at a cost of $50 per session. Weekend sessions are currently planned for January 14-15, January 28-29, and February 4-5. The price for the weekend dates includes SG (super G or speed) training, described further below. These Thursday and weekend training sessions are a great way to get introduced to active ski racing, even if you’ve never done it before. As is the case with our younger racers, no special equipment is required to come out and give it a try, just an open mind and a desire for fun.
Super G training
In addition to SL and GS training, SPAC offers early morning Masters Super G training on Skyline. The dates for this are the same as the weekend dates listed above. The cost for SG Training as a standalone is $35 but is included in the $50 weekend gate training fee for those that want to do both. A special, longer SG training session will be offered on February 3 from 9am to 3pm, covering more in depth SG techniques including gliding, tucks & tuck turns, line choice, terrain changes, and basic air. The cost of this training is $60; an additional $10 buys the SG training on February 4th. The coaching staff will provide further information on equipment requirements for all SG training. Hope to see you out there banging gates! Maybe before long you’ll be able to keep up with your kids again (no promises though but we know you’ll have fun trying 🙂
