Ever wondered how we put on so many fun amazing races at Stevens Pass – VOLUNTEERS!!  Many of the vital volunteer positions that we really cannot run a race without require taking a class and getting certified. Certified officials make sure the races are organized well and are run fairly and properly. They are an absolutely essential part of what we do for our athletes.

For those of you interested in getting certified or who need to take a refresher (required every two years) The classes will be held at the Microsoft Campus on Saturday October 28th from 7:30am-4pm. More information and registration can be found at http://www.pnsa.org/calendar/details/581

Certifications are available to be:

  • Start and Finish Referrees (The folks you see with the walkie talkies at the top and the bottom of the course) A fun position to be in the heart of the action.
  • The Chief of Timing – This is a great position for folks who are good with computers and like to be in the warm timing shack
  • Race Administrator – This is the behind the scenes person who ensures all the athletes are registered and that the race is run and recorded officially – Jason Cohen and Amy Forbes would love to have some folks to mentor into this crucial role
  • Chief of Race – Just like what it sounds like.
